El Centro - 11th, The Imperial Valley College Desert Museum will hold their annual meeting at the Old Post Office in El Centro. Doors open at 5:30 with a tri-tip dinner at 6:00 PM. Dinner is $10.00 each. For reservations call 358-7016. Native American artist Amil Pedro will have art work for exhibit and sale.
County Wide - 18th, California Department of Corrections will be hosting a Recruitment Extravaganza at the Casa de Manana and Preble Building of the Imperial Valley Expo from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. This is free and open to the public.There will be free seminars on interviewing techniques, how to complete a state application and mock correctional officer testing. El Centro - 18th & 19th, Kmart Kids Race Against Drugs- a free, fun, family-oriented event is scheduled to hit El Centro this weekend. It will be held Saturday, March 18th from 9-5 and Sunday, March 19 from 11-5 at the El Centro Kmart store at 1950 North Imperial Avenue. Girls and boys aged 7-12 get to "race" miniature cars (under adult supervision). Every child who participates receives a t-shirt, cap, and racing certificate. For every child that races, Kmart makes a donation to local programs fighting youth substance abuse. The event is co-hosted by MADD, DARE, and the San Diego County Prevention Coalition. The event is absolutely FREE and should be a lot of fun for all involved.
